SiftTube Privacy Policy

SiftTube ("we," "our," or "us") is a YouTube content filtering application designed for Orthodox Jewish families. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the SiftTube web app at sifttube.com or our mobile applications.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

An anonymous Firebase Authentication identifier and your sign-in email. We do not require your real name, phone number, or other personal info.

1.2 Settings & Preferences

Your filter preferences (concern levels, categories, music settings, time limits, bedtime schedule), parent password (stored hashed), recovery email if you set one. Stored in Google Firestore.

1.3 Usage Data

Video IDs watched, watch duration, blocked videos and reasons, daily screen time totals, and search queries. Associated only with your anonymous account ID.

1.4 Video Classification Data

AI classifications (category, content concerns, content flags) are stored per-video in our shared database. Not associated with any individual user.

1.5 Thumbnail/Frame Analysis

YouTube thumbnails are sent to our AI provider (Groq Inc.) for content analysis. Images are processed in real-time and not permanently stored.

2. How We Use Your Information

To operate the filtering service, classify YouTube videos via AI, sync your settings across devices, enforce parental controls and time limits, improve classification accuracy, and detect abuse.

3. YouTube API Services

SiftTube uses YouTube API Services. By using SiftTube you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. All videos play through YouTube's official IFrame Player. We do not download or redistribute YouTube content. Ads play normally unless you have YouTube Premium. You can revoke SiftTube's access via Google security settings.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Limited sharing only with: Google Firebase (auth, storage, hosting); Groq Inc. (AI classification — only video metadata and thumbnails, no user info); and as required by law.

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

SiftTube is a parental control app installed and configured by parents. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All settings are managed by the parent through a password-protected dashboard.

6. Data Security

Industry-standard security: HTTPS/TLS in transit, Firestore security rules restricting access, API keys restricted by domain, parent passwords stored hashed.

7. Data Retention

Account settings retained while your account exists. Watch history retained 90 days. Classification cache retained indefinitely (no personal info). You may request deletion at any time.

8. Your Rights

Access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Email support@sifttube.com with subject "Account Deletion Request". Deletion completed within 30 days.

9. Changes

We may update this Policy. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
